Portland Forest School kids walk to their daily park location.
Hello Forest School Families,
The fall season here, with the lengthening shadows and shorter days, signaling the changes in the natural world. Our class pods are continuously out and about, traveling to our local parks and destinations.
Our teachers are meticulously assessing student growth at this start of the year through formative assessments. These low-stakes, high-input evaluations help us understand the significant development that has occurred over the summer months. Through activities such as nature walks, science experiments, and team-building, students are forming a connection to these places we explore. The outdoor spaces are not just locations; they are an extension of our classroom helping to facilitate our students' sense of place and their understanding of the environment.
The beginning of the year is a bustling time so please be sure to read all the way down for all good things PFS!
